How fast is your computer's Internet connection?

From time to time, I wonder how fast one Internet connection is compared to another. Speakeasy is a website that lets you see how fast your connection is.

Below are sites with some other tools and information you may find useful to test / tweak your broadband connection.

1) SpeedGuide.net Tools

TCP Optimizer - The TCP Optimizer is a free Windows program designed to help optimize your Internet connection. The program makes it easy to find the best MaxMTU value, test latency and tweak the important Registry Parameters.

TCP/IP Analyzer - The SpeedGuide TCP/IP Analyzer is a program designed to display your Internet connection parameters, extracted directly from TCP packets sent by your browser to our server. The Analyzer program then displays recommendations based on the settings extracted from the headers of those packets.

2) DSL Reports

A wealth of information regarding broadband Internet connections can be found here.

News - Reviews - Forums - Tools - more

One of my favorites is this list of speed tests:

Another one here is DrTCP

3) What is My IP?

4) IP Chicken

5) PingPlotter
A visual pinging/traceroute tool to see how long each step of your Internet connections takes to get from here to there.

I hope some of these tools are useful to you. Enjoy!

The speakeasy download/upload test above was linked at digg.com and was found to be unreliable as far as accuracy of speed. Nice GUI, no doubt, but not true to the game.

Just saying.
You're probably going much faster.
